Trip #10 (6-day trip) Aug 11-17, Day 1

August 13th, 2018|Categories: Trip Reports|

Howdy anglers,

We’re traveling this afternoon to a spot where we’re hoping to target some yellowtail.  Our weather is so nice and it looks to stay nice for us for a few days. We’ll update the report this evening.

Update: It was a slow afternoon for us though we had a good sign of the fish. They just were not very eager to bite the hook. Ken Y. caught this nice one on 60lb and a flylined sardine.

We’re moving down to focus on tuna tomorrow. The weather is still very nice and the forecast looks great for us as well.

Trip #10 Ultra-limited load is off and running! Aug 11-17, 2018

August 12th, 2018|Categories: Capt Art's Blog|

With only 14 anglers aboard, it’s the ultimate in passenger comfort and a relaxing fishing experience. So much room at the rail! It was a bittersweet send-off though, as it’s Captain Aaron Remy’s last trip as captain or crew aboard Searcher. Team Searcher will miss him greatly, and wish him well in his next endeavors.

But first, it’s time to fish! Wish them luck and check back for daily fish reports as they head to the tuna and yellowtail grounds.

Good evening anglers: Today was a little slow on the yellowfin tuna action dueto a south swell. So we decided to try for some yellowtail and it worked out very well.

Good times to be had by all with lots of action and smiles on deck! We’re headed up to try some paddy hopping tomorrow. Wish us luck! Here’s Ashley M. with one of her nice yellowtail from today.

August 9th, 2018|Categories: Trip Reports, Uncategorized|

Good evening Anglers:

Today we had a good pick on yellowfin tuna 25lbs to 75lbs. Tackle tip for the day, was a 7 foot rod and 40lb with fluorocarbon and a 1/0 hook small sardines have been working the best for our anglers so far.

Heres Mark Stout and Captain Mike with a 40lb yellowfin. More to coming, stay hooked. ~Captain Shawn and Team Searcher.

Hello Anglers,

This morning we are catching quality fish and being able to focus on bring them on deck. We are having fun fishing. The best chance at a bite is with 40lb test and 1/0 hooks, which makes this very challenging due to the size of the fish (biggies), but we are up for the challenge! (it is called sportfishing after all.)  Wish us luck this afternoon.

Here is Dan T. and Captain Aaron with a 45lb yellowfin.
