Aug 15 (3-day trip) Captain Potatohead Memorial and “Fun”raiser
Hello anglers,
We tried hard at San Clemente island, but didn’t have too much production. We also tried for bluefin later but got to the party a little late.
However, we had lots of fun with plenty of great items to raffle off and some costumes to lighten things up.

Hello anglers,
We had a great start to the trip with action the first afternoon and a few fish on flat fall lures last night. We found a nice school of tuna early and landed some nice bluefin and yellowfin tuna. After that it was very tough to get a school located and there was a lot of boat traffic. We have high hopes for some more tuna this evening.

Aug 13 (3-day trip) Captain Potatohead Memorial and “Fun”raiser
Hello anglers,
We left on a special trip today: Captain Potatohead Memorial, our 10th annual memorial trip in honor of Dickie Uranga. His friends, old and those he never met, set out today for fun, friends, and FISHING!
For the fishing part, we had a nice start to the trip at sunset. We had a great school of bluefin tuna and an opportunity to land a few. They are 25-40 pound fish, caught on 25-30 pound line and flouro with a #2 hook and a live sardine.
And we are happy to be raising money for Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCan.org) in Dickie’s name. So many donations for his raffle. We’ll raise thousands of dollars!

Aug 12 (Extended 1.5 day trip)
We started yesterday with a few bluefin tuna. We tried last night for a long time and managed to catch a few. The majority of the fish we saw didn’t cooperate. This morning we have seen multiple spots of fish and are targeting those. The fish arent in the biting mode so far today, but we are hopeful!

Good morning anglers,
We have been picking at the yellowtail this morning. Not red hot action, but we are scratching away. Surface iron yo yo lures and fly lined baits today. Beautiful grade of fish again here.

Good morning anglers,
We made a move last night to break the trip up a little and try for some yellowtail. They started biting at about 630am this morning and bit until about 11 am. Beatuful grade here 20-30lbs a few bigger a few smaller. The heavy yo yo jigs were working the best. Here’s Izorline prostaffer Howard with a slob he caught on the yoyo.

Good morning anglers,
We had some pretty good action from midnight until sun up on the flat falls last night fishing for 25-50lb bluefin and yellowfin mix. Lots of stopping and going, and lots of bites.
We got on a school just after the sun came up and had a very good opportunities. It’s light line plunker fishing on the same fish. Best set up is 25lb line, though we’ve had lots of losses. We’re working on catching some up this morning

Good evening anglers,
We had a long afternoon of bluefin that wouldn’t bite. But we tied into a spot around 3:30 and have been drifting for 4 hours. There’s been 1-4 fish hooked and so we are plunking away. The grade is about 25-50lbs. Fun evening!
We’re going to break the trip up a bit and try catch some yellowtail tomorrow.
