Trip #26 Ultra-limited load 7-day trip (Oct 12-19)

October 14th, 2019|Categories: Trip Reports|

Hello anglers,

We arrived at Guadalupe Island Sunday afternoon. It didn’t take long for us to locate some fish and get the anchor down. Then we enjoyed steady action until dark. What a great start on 25-50 pound yellowfin! Live sardines with 30-40 pound line and fluorocarbon were the best method today.

Here is Paul C with a nice 40 pound fish. Oh, and the weather is awesome!

Trip #25 Ultra-limited load 7-day trip (Oct 5-12)

October 11th, 2019|Categories: Trip Reports|

Hello anglers,

We focused on yellowtail today. Everyone has enough yellowfin tuna! We tried various spots with not much success. We did find a few fish at the end of the day and they were nice size fish. A fly-line mackerel with 40-pound test, and yo-yo lure (blue/white and scrambled egg) with 40-60 pound line were the methods that worked. Everyone had a chance at landing a nice yellowtail. Here is Paul S with a 42 pound yellowtail which is a personal best for this long-time angler!

We are headed north tonight to check in in Ensenada and then home for our next trip. Nice weather.

October 10th, 2019|Categories: Trip Reports|

Hello anglers,

We had some good opportunities in the last 2 hours of the day. Everyone ended up landing enough yellowfin tuna for the trip. Yellowfin catching has been great this trip.

Here is Anne L. with a nice tuna with Capt Armando.

We are spending the night and trying for yellowtail tomorrow to finish the trip.

Trip #25 Ultra-limited load 7-day trip (Oct 5-12)

October 9th, 2019|Categories: Trip Reports|

Hello anglers:

We had good fishing today. Everyone had multiple chances at landing a nice yellowfin tuna. It took light line and small hooks to get a bite–30 pound line and a #2 hook with a fresh sardine was the method of choice. We had some losses that are associated with this size fish and lighter tackle but we had a good day anyway. Conditions were great, the weather was awesome. Here is Capt Art and Rick D with a nice tuna. And Matt R with a yellowtail.

Trip #25 Ultra-limited load 7-day trip (Oct 5-12)

October 8th, 2019|Categories: Trip Reports|

Hello anglers,

We had steady action this afternoon after the current picked up. There was a very good sign of fish around us almost all day. A live sardine and 30-40 pound test with a # 2 J-hook was the preferred method. Here is Tanner S with a nice yellowfin tuna. We are staying in the same spot and trying again tomorrow. The weather is awesome with calm seas, light winds and it’s sunny!

Hello anglers,

We have had slow fishing so far, though we have seen fish all morning. If we will get some current this afternoon. we are hoping the fish will bite.

Here is Warren B with a 45 pound yellowfin tuna landed on 30 pound line and a live sardine.
