Hello all,

Today was different day with not much action. There wasn’t very much tuna seen today. We did land 2 nice fish today. On Gary Gillingham’s birthday he hooked a nice fish and handed it to Eric Streich from Sacramento. Eric handed it off to the crew and they finished the fight. Kenny and R2 tag-teamed and landed this 148 pound tuna with a ATD 12 Accurate reel and a Seeker rod.

Hoping for a few more tuna tomorrow.

Hello anglers:

One of our long-time customers, Bob Bower, had a great morning. First Bob landed a nice 30 pound yellowtail, and the next fish he caught was 160 pound yellowfin tuna! Capt Art helped Bob around the anchor line several times and then we finally landed his fish of a lifetime.

Here he is with Capt Art and his beautiful tuna!

October 24th, 2017|Trip Reports|

Hello all,

We had some action this afternoon on yellowfin tuna. Plenty of chances for a few hours but we had trouble landing them. We hope that tomorrow is a different day and we land more yellowtail and tuna. Here is Jeff Nagel, the winner of an Accurate reel with pro staffer Gary Gillingham. Jeff landed the first tuna over 100 pounds today so that made him eligible for the 400 series two-speed reel from our great sponsors at Accurate Fishing Products.

Hello anglers:

We started our first afternoon at Guadalupe Island today. We had good action on yellowfin tuna in the 80-135 pound range. We had several bites and plenty of opportunities to land them–it was a great start to our trip! The weather is awesome with sunny skies and no wind.

Accurate Small LogoWe are fortunate to have Accurate Fishing Products and Seeker Rods as sponsors of this trip. There were plenty of giveaways yesterday while we were traveling!

Seeker Logo SmallGary Gillingham, pro-staffer from Accurate, had goodie bags for everyone. And Fred Brandt from Seeker Rods had hats and shirts for everyone as well. Gary is giving away reels and Fred has rods to give away as well….lucky anglers!

Both Gary and Fred landed fish this afternoon. Here is Gary with a 108-pound tuna landed on 80 pound line and a ATD 12 Accurate reel. trip31garytuna

Fred’s fish is 125 pounds.

Looking forward to tomorrow,

October 19th, 2017|Trip Reports|

Hello all,

Plenty of opportunities today to catch a quality yellowfin tuna. We had fish around us from 9 am this morning until dark.  Our goal was to get everyone a nice yellowfin tuna and we achieved that goal at the very end of the day. Ken Jones was our last tuna virgin and he landed a 137 pound fish with the help of our great crew. Ken is pictured with his fish.

We are headed back tonight and will arrive early on Saturday morning. Looking forward to giving the next group a chance at some of these fish.

Trip 30 Oct 14-21(7-day) Oct 19 Midday Report

October 19th, 2017|Trip Reports|

Hello all,

We saw a sign of tuna earlier today, so we decided to focus our efforts on catching yellowfin for most of the day. We all realized that for some people, the opportunity to catch a fish of a lifetime outweighs a chance at catching a quality yellowtail. We have had fish around us all morning and we have had our chances. Here is “Uncle Andy” who is here as a replacement for our long time friend and client Walt Graham who couldn’t make the trip. Walt and his son Pat have been customers for a long time. *Pat landed a nice fish 2 days ago and lost one today.

More later,

October 18th, 2017|Trip Reports|

Hello all,

We had some chances at good size yellowfin tuna again this afternoon. There was a period where we had trouble getting a bite but the fish were still around. Here is Chris Mohs with a yellowfin tuna that weighed 80 pounds. We are spending the night again and trying once more tomorrow – our last day. We have had lots of rail time on this trip with 4 full days at the island. Lots of opportunities for quality fish!
