Trip 2 – (Jun 30-Jul 4) midday update Jul 2

July 2nd, 2017|Trip Reports|

Howdy anglers,

We had a fun morning here fishing.

The current wasn’t really moving, so we had fun fishing for rockfish.

This afternoon the current seems to be moving so we’re hoping for some action on some yellowtail.

The weather is great, and we’re happy about that.

Trip 2 – (Jun 30-Jul 4) midday update Jul 1

July 2nd, 2017|Trip Reports|

Howdy anglers,

It was a slow morning for us today,  but we did manage to capture one blue fin tuna this morning, and that’s a start!

The weather is calm and we’re very happy about that.

Last night we celebrated the birthday of our galley assistant, Dan. It was a fun night.

Keeping our hopes high for good afternoon fishing.

More later,

Capt Aaron and Team Searcher

Trip 1 (3-day) June 24 report

June 25th, 2017|Trip Reports|

Hello anglers,

We fished San Clemente again today. Very slow fishing for us. We tried yesterday’s hot spot and unfortunately the fish didn’t bite. We fished for rockfish for a while to get some table fare for everyone and then we spent the last few hours in the spot where we had a few yellowtail the day before. We saw some fish and landed a few.

Jake Brookman landed this yellowtail using one of our Accurate/Seeker Hook and Hand outfits. 30 pound Izorline with a Owner live bait hook and a live sardine. Capt Aaron Remy gets the assist on this fish.

Jake also won the raffle grand prize of an Accurate reel and a Seeker rod! Thanks to Accurate products and Seeker Rods for their support. Our anglers benefit from these valuable partnerships.

Heading in for an early arrival June 25. Keep posted for Jackpot report.

Trip 1 (3 day) June 23 Afternoon Report

June 24th, 2017|Trip Reports|

Hello anglers,

After 10 am today fishing was pretty slow, and although we tried various spots, the conditions weren’t conducive for yellowtail. We tried for some rockfish and they didn’t want to bite either. We finished the day back in the morning spot where we had seen good signs of yellowtail. We saw a few fish and landed a couple. Dave from Murietta landed this yellowtail in the afternoon.

We did all enjoy Chef Charley’s famous BBQ rib dinner with all the fixins’–potato salad, cornbread, mac and cheese — yum!

Hoping for better fishing results tomorrow. Check back for a report.

Trip 1: Jun 22 and 23

June 23rd, 2017|Trip Reports|

June 22: To start off our first trip of 2017, we loaded good-looking sardines. The weather forecast looks good too. We headed out to the tuna grounds for the afternoon and saw a few fish. They weren’t biting, except one made a mistake and Gary Gillingham, pro-staffer for Accurate Products hooked and landed a 35-pound bluefin tuna on a knife lure. He used the butterfly method with an Accurate rod and reel. R2 and Gary are pictured with the fish in the bow.

June 23: We traveled overnight to San Clemente island so we would have a chance to anchor and fish. We have seen and caught a few yellowtail this morning. Roger Brookman landed a yellowtail hooked by Capt Art on one of our Accurate/Seeker “Hook and Hand” outfits. Many thanks or the rod and reel combos from Jack Nielson and Rick Hult. We have put them to good use.2017trip1YTroger
Aaron Lasley from Simi Valley (below with Capt Ryan) landed a yellowtail too. Aaron is here thanks to his family for a Father’s Day gift.
