Good morning,

After the poor bluefin fishing we have endured the past few weeks, we decided to run down the beach. We see a little sign of 15-25# yellowfin down here and we’ve scraped up a few.

We’re also seeing good sign of yellowtail on kelps. They are not biting all that well, but we did get a lucky one and had a nice hit earlier. The yellowtail are 5-25#. We also boated our first dorado of the year.

Good evening, anglers:

We ended up scratching up a nice day today. We had action all afternoon on these yellowfin. We dont see a whole lot of it, but the schools we stopped on were biting fish.  It’s a very nice change of pace and hopefully a good sign of things to come.

We’re going to camp out tonight and see what tomorrow brings.

Hello anglers:

We have seen a ton of fish starting at around 1 am this morning until lunch time. However this was lots of non-biting fish.

We aren’t fishless anymore thanks to Rob and his artificial lure. He landed a 25# bluefin before lunch. We are hoping for some more fish this afternoon. We were seeing consistent spots of fish until a large herd of false killer whales travelled through the area where the fish were. As you might guess, the tuna went down temporarily!

Jun 22 (2.5 day) Offshore

June 22nd, 2022|Categories: Capt Art's Blog, Trip Reports|

Good morning,

We got into an area of fish last night around 12:30.  There were some opportunities to catch some 25-50# fish on the lures.  We scratched up a few handfulls until the sun came up. Now that the sun’s up, it is very hard to get a bite. There is still an incredible sign of bluefin around.  Hopefully this afternoon we’ll catch a few more.

Good evening,

We have been seeing this fish all day and we have managed to scrape up a decent sample.  The ones we have landed are 25-100#, mostly in the 40-50# range.  Pretty tough fishing still but it seems like it may be on the upswing.

We’re hanging out and hoping for a hit this evening.

Good afternoon,

We got on scene to a new zone around 1030 last night and saw some very good sign of 40-100# fish.  We had a few opportunities, not great ones, but better than we’ve had in the past 4 or 5 days.  We lost track of the fish when the sun came up but got back on it around 9am and we’ve gotten a few bites. There’s plenty of fish to look at. We’re hoping for an afternoon shot of catching a few.
