Jul 24 (1.5 day trip) Private Charter

Good morning anglers,

We’ve had some good action on the yellowtail. Most of the fish are 10-15lbs.  There is a sign of dorado and yellowfin on these kelps too. We’ve managed to catch a few, but the yellowtail seemed too aggressive to catch many.

Here’s a sample from our first stop

Good evening anglers,

The yellowtail action continued for most of the afternoon.  We had a little lull, but we got back on them.  We are starting to see some small schools of mixed bluefin and yellowfin now as well. We just boated a couple.

We have a little bit of time to flat fall tonight. We’ve got one flat fall fish on the boat and good fish swimming through us here now.

Jul 21 (4 day trip) Accurate Fishing Products

Good morning anglers,

We had a very long afternoon yesterday with lots of non-biting fish, but we scraped up a few 25-40lbers throughout the day.  It was a very frustrating day.  However, we had another very good opportunity on the flat falls last night with 100-200lbers.  We had a window of opportunity from 12-3am where they were biting pretty good.

Here’s Teresa with a 184# bluefin she landed amidst all the chaos!

Good evening anglers,

We made a move this morning after our flat fall bite to look for some biting bluefin. We found plenty of bluefin, just not biting ones. They seem to be only biting at night right now. We scratched up some nice 15-20lb yellowtail in our travels.

This evening we’re on some 50-150lb bluefin. We have a few on deck and a few hanging. We’re going to drift this out until we have to go home.

Jul 20 (4 day trip) Accurate Fishing Products

Good morning anglers,

We got on scene this morning at about 4am and had some great opportunity on 100-200lb fish on the flat fall type lures.  Now that the sun has come up it is very difficult to get a bite or do anything really with these fish.

We’re seeing massive ammounts of fish, just not getting many bites.

TACKLE TIP: I highly recommend getting a small knife jig. They seem to be getting bit pretty well lately at night.

Jul 19 (4 day trip) Accurate Fishing Products

Good evening anglers,

It’s kind of funny (or not) how things can change so fast. All the biting bluefin we had last week turned into to not seeing much, and the fish we saw yesterday wanted nothing to do with the boat.  We tried a different area today but saw n0 sign of bluefin.  We did see some sign of yellowfin, but never caught one.

Instead we enjoyed some wide open action on yellowtail on kelps! We’re back on the hunt for bluefin tonight and tomorrow.

Jul 17 (4 day trip) Poseidon Fishing Adventures

Hello anglers,

We stayed busy most of the day today, making seceral stops on spots of bluefin. The results were much better today.

We had good action on 40-80 pound fish with a few 25 pounders mixed in. We learned from the past two days that lighter line gets results as far as bites are concerned, but the catching ratio isn’t as good as heavier line. Most everyone used heavier line with a smaller size hook and our production went up. Not as many losses today.

We are going to try this evening for a few hours and then call it a trip. Thanks to Matt from Poseidon Fishing Adventures for all the raffle prizes and giveaways this trip.

Jul 16 (4 day trip) Poseidon Fishing Adventures

Hello anglers,

Here’s our midday report: We had some action this morning on 50-120 pound tuna. We drifted for a long time, and had fish hooked the whole time. We had some losses with the bigger fish but everyone had an opportunity to hook and land a fish over 100 pounds!

Don and Andrew caught a fish weighing in at 110 pounds!

Hello anglers,

We had an opportunity last night for fishing on 100 pound fish. We had just one stop, but it paid off.  We also had some action on 50-80 pound fish yesterday afternoon. Hoping for some more action tomorrow. Gotta run, we are busy!

Jul 15 (4 day trip) Poseidon Fishing Adventures

Hello anglers,

Here’s our mid-day report from the tuna grounds: We have seen several spots of fish that are not cooperating. They just aren’t interested in what we have to offer right now. We’ve landed a few, but it has been slow catching. Hoping for better action this afternoon.

Nightime report: We saw lots of fish last night without any biters. Will try some more tonight.

Candy’s 50# bluefin came on board  after she offered a live sardine on 40 pound line and fluorocarbon

Hello anglers,

What a tremendous sign of fish we saw this afternoon! Unfortunately lots of it wouldn’t bite but we did have some opportunities, and the fish we did land are 50-80 pounds. All the fish are being caught with a flyline sardine.

The weather is great and we hope to catch a few tonight. Stay tuned!

Jul 14 (4 day trip) Poseidon Fishing Adventures

Hello anglers,

We had a nice start this afternoon on our annual 4-day trip with Poseidon Fishing Adventures on board. We had some opportunities to fish mixed-size bluefin tuna. We had fish in the 40 -50 pound class, a few 70-80 pound fish, and four fish over 100 pounds.

TACKLE TIP: A flyline sardine on 40-80 pound line with matching florocarbon leader and a 2/0-4/0 circle hook.

We’re having dinner and then trying for more tuna tonight.

Jul 13 (3 day trip) Limited load

Good morning anglers,

We had some good flat fall fishing last night on 70-130# bluefin from 3 -5 am.  We fired up and went about a mile and stopped on a massive school of mixed grade fish(20-150lbs).  We’ve been plunking since the sun came up with 2-5 fish going.  It’s pretty good fishing this morning, lots of heartbreaks, lots of success, and lots of fun.

Laura caught this 110# by flylining 40lb

Good evening anglers,

We had steady action action all afternoon.  We got into another plunker on some more manageable grade today.  The stop this afternoon was on 25-60lbers.

As for the tackle tip today: 40lb flylined sardine was the ticket.  Some were getting bites fly lining 50lb and that was even better.

We’re headed home now everyone is tired from fishing all day and all night the last 3 days, so no flat falling tonight.
